Laiche family,
I was deeply saddened to learn of Herb’s passing. I knew Herb and the Laiche family many, so many years ago. Herb was a good man, an honorable man, a patriot to his nation, loving husband to Diana and caring father to his precious daughters. With a loving wife and two daughters of my own, I can testify to that special love that Herb surely felt for each of you. My heart and prayers go out to you as you feel the pangs of Herb’s absence and miss his tender embrace in the days ahead.

I hope that you find peace and joy as you reflect on the good times that you shared together. Herb will be missed by many.

Aloha to the Laiche family,

Don't know if you still check this site, but I came across it after researching the BC Ferry from Anacortes. Our family enjoyed a trip on it in summer 1990, thanks to Herb's hospitality the day before.

My ex-husband (Ed Tesoro) knew Herb from Shell Oil, when Herb would visit the Kahului, Maui plant for work purposes. We enjoyed his gumbo and other Cajun recipes! I was amazed by his knowledge of Anacortes, as were my two young sons at the time. Now those kids are married but still recall fondly the wonderful trip made in our newly-acquired Toyota 4Runner from Portland, OR.

Herb was a very special, caring person with a solid work ethic. My deepest sympathy to your family.
